Domino Pre-school is a small, friendly Pre-School in Fulbourn.

The Pre-school plays a pivotal role within the community to ensure a quality early years foundation for children from the term they turn three. We provide a caring, happy and secure environment. All our children are made to feel special and learn through play, fun and friendship, enabling them to start school with confidence.

The staff at Domino are dedicated, caring individuals who value the uniqueness of each child regardless of sex, race or academic ability. Sarah, the Manager and her team work hard every week to create a stimulating and varied play setting in which the children are learning through their play. Parents are kept up to date with their child’s activities with a daily whiteboard outside the setting and a weekly newsletter sent out on email.

Domino Pre-school is a registered charity and, as such, is assisted by a committee of past and present parents and carers.

Impact

We aim to provide an environment in which children feel safe to take managed risks and to explore and lead their own learning.  We want children leaving the pre-school to be confident and resilient learners. Children who are happy and have the skills necessary to progress into the next stage of their educational journey.

We have an established enabling environment that allows us to run ‘Planning in the Moment’ as our main pedagogy.  We provide opportunities for children to make progress against the development matters outcomes as well as our own unique ‘Curricular Goals’.

We are a very popular pre-school and parental feedback is positive. Children make progress from their starting points and staff are reflective on their practice and seek ways to continue to enhance children’s learning at every opportunity.

We designed our new curriculum to ensure that children leave the setting with good communication and language skills.

Staff utilise ‘Helicopter stories’ methodology to encourage narrative play, imagination and oral story telling.

Through familiarisation with our core texts children will have a bank of story structures and language that they can use in their own story telling.
